Tui Na 推拿; ( tuī ná) Tui “to push” and Na “to lift and squeeze, is a form of Chinese Manipulative Therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, Chinese Herbalism, Tai Chi, and QiGong. It is the ancient Chinese medical massage, and is recorded in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine since 2300 B.C. Tui Na is a natural non-drug therapy, physical a hands-on body therapy that uses Chinese taoist and martial arts principles in an effort to bring the eight principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into balance. It involves techniques brushing, kneading, rolling /pressing, and rubbbing the areas between each of the joints, known as the eight gates, to attempt to open the body’s defensive (wei) Qi and get the energy moving in the meridians and the muscles It can be a very deep and vigorous or gentle and light depending on the patients needs for balance.
